Rodman M. Price Papers, 1847-1884

Rodman M. Price (1816-1894) read the proclamation of the annexation of California from the custom house in Monterey, California. He became alcade of Monterey, was a member of the first San Francisco Municipal Council at the California Constitutional Convention (1849), and a member of the House of Representatives (1851-53). He later served as governor of New Jersey (1854-57). The collection consists of correspondence, accounts, and agreements pertaining to lawsuits, including Price Dewey, instituted by Price for the recovery of San Francisco real estate purchased in 1847. vs.
